Your Body Mass Index This is a new way to determine whether you are in serious trouble and whether fat is shortening your life. The body mass index (BMI) is believed by many researchers to be one of the most accurate ways to determine your healthy weight. Find your height in inches on the left scale. Now find your weight in pounds on the right scale. Draw a line between them. Where that line meets in the middle is your approximate BMI.
